As you know World of Apple attended the Grand Opening of the Brent Cross Apple Store.

We arrived at around 8.15am to be greeted by a very small turn out, we placed ourselves in the queue at around the 30 position and began snapping away! At round twenty to nine things started happening, beats started pumping from the store and staff led out through the doors handing out Grand Opening Visitors Guides.

The queue must have grown to around 70 people at this point as the staff looped the queue again cheering and giving high fives. 9am came and we promptly led into the Store, we were given t-shirts and more Visitors Guides, the store is long and thin but they’ve managed to cram a lot in.

As you enter the store you have Intel iMacs to your right, iPods in the middle and a mixture of computers to your left (music based). As you move forward into the iLife section you have mini’s the right, iBooks in the middle and PowerBooks to the left.

Intel iMacs

The next section is home and pro with a mixture of PowerMacs and PowerBooks to the left and right and Intel iMacs in the middle, the next section is taken up mainly by the Studio and Genius Bar to your right with iPod and Mac accessories to your left and centre, naturally the final section is iPods in two stands with Software shelves on either side, the end of the store has a POS with 3 checkouts.

PhotoBooth

All in all a very nice store and a great Grand Opening environment even if it did lack in turnout.

Apple to Continue Using Express Checkout System

Thursday 29th December, 2005 - 20:51 GMT

Posted in: Apple Retail Stores

Written by: Alex Brooks

Apple EasyPay system is reportedly becoming a major part in the Apple Retail Store experience. Over the holiday season the system was used to help process the mass orders for iPods. The area was nicknamed iPod Express and only last week was criticised by ifoAppleStore.

So it appears that the wireless and paperless ordering system will continue and should hopefully improve the service in some of the bigger stores.
