The update can be obtained through iTunes for owners of the iPod nano 4G.

Late Tuesday night iPod touch users began receiving the update which adds many of the features present on the brand new second generation iPod touch.

Some of the changes in 2.1 include the Genius feature for automatically creating a playlist of related music, battery life improvements, and a large amount of bug fixes.

A full list of fixes is now available from Apple.

The software update is free to iPod touch users who have already upgraded to version 2.0 of firmware, those using any version 1 software must pay $9.99 to unlock and download the 2.1 update.

The 2.1 update will be available for free to iPhone users on Friday.

Although Apple has offered little information as to what is included with the firmware update, reports suggest that no new features are added, which means that 1.1.5 is likely just a bug fix and stability update.

The SMC Update fine tunes the speed and operation of the internal fan.

iPod shuffle Firmware 1.0.4

The iPod shuffle firmware 1.0.4 delivers enhanced support for the new 2GB shuffle as well as fixing unspecified bugs.

This update supports system software components shared by all iLife ’08 applications to improve their stability and performance.

iPod classic Firmware Update 1.1.1

According to a report from iLounge the updated firmware which was recently made available corrects an issue “where an audible hiss was apparent when the unit was turned off.”

The biggest feature of the update is that iPod touch users can now Add Calendar Events to the iPod touch calendar.

The update is now available via iTunes.

As with most iPod updates no description or clues to changes have been provided but preliminary reports point towards the following:

It appears that some early reports point towards negative screen issues being corrected with this update.

The job which is based in Austin, Texas requires applications to be in by May as training classes begin around that time.

The Sr. iPhone Support Representative is responsible for answering questions for Apple customers and partners. Apple describes the update as “bug fixes”, although Apple have obviously declined to comment on the exact details it appears that the update fixes problems related to the iPod shuffle green and orange error lights causing iTunes to suddenly no longer recognise the device. The issue has been known to affect both 1GB and 512MB iPod shuffles
