iPhone and iPod Touch 2.0.2 Firmware Update Released

Apple has released the latest minor firmware update for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Apple describes the 248MB update as containing “Bug fixes” but expands no further.

Apple Releases Free Firmware Update for iPod Touch Owners

Apple has today quietly released firmware version 1.1.5 for iPod touch users who have opted not to pay for firmware version 2.0.

Although Apple has offered little information as to what is included with the firmware update, reports suggest that no new features are added, which means that 1.1.5 is likely just a bug fix and stability update.

This update supports system software components shared by all iLife ’08 applications to improve their stability and performance.

iPod classic Firmware Update 1.1.1

According to a report from iLounge the updated firmware which was recently made available corrects an issue “where an audible hiss was apparent when the unit was turned off.”

Along with today’s release of the iPhone firmware update, Apple has also released an update for the iPod touch.

The biggest feature of the update is that iPod touch users can now Add Calendar Events to the iPod touch calendar.

The update is now available via iTunes.

iPod Nano and iPod Classic Receive Software Update

Both the iPod nano and the iPod classic have received a software update via iTunes, updating them to version 1.0.2.

As with most iPod updates no description or clues to changes have been provided but preliminary reports point towards the following:

  • Improved, more responsive Cover Flow
  • Faster UI and navigation
  • Compilation album artwork only displayed once in Cover Flow
  • Video out fixed

The update describes various fixes including

  • Improves performance and reliability of Intel Core 2 Duo Processors (iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro)

Apple has released an update for the iPod listing only “bug fixes” in the description.

It appears that some early reports point towards negative screen issues being corrected with this update.

This update primarily addresses issues with change tracking and performance.

Keynote 4.0.1 - 31.1MB

This update primarily addresses issues with builds and performance.

This update to iWeb addresses issues with upgrading iWeb 1.x websites, and fixes some common publishing problems, and supports general compatibility issues.

Apple Hiring iPhone Support Techs

AfterCollege.com is advertising a job for a Senior iPhone Support Representative for Apple.

The job which is based in Austin, Texas requires applications to be in by May as training classes begin around that time.

The Sr. iPhone Support Representative is responsible for answering questions for Apple customers and partners. Viewed as an escalation point, the candidate should be able to provide prompt, reliable, and accurate information to customers while maintaining effective communications during conversations by adjusting to the pace and technical level of the customer.

Some of the duties listed include handling escalated questions on both hardware and software as well as fielding questions related to GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies.

Apple.com also lists the job but with a slightly different description;

As an iPhone Sales & Service Representative, you’re at the core of the customer’s experience. This newly created position (like a true pioneer) will fuel the iPhone revolution!

Apple today complimented the release of iTunes 6.0.5 with iPod Updater 2006-06-28.

iPod UpdateriPod Updater 2006-06-28 in Software Update

iPod Updater 2006-06-28 delivers:

  • New iPod Software 1.1.2 for iPod
  • New iPod Software 1.2 for iPod nano
  • New iPod Software 1.1.4 for iPod shuffle

For all other iPod models, iPod Updater 2006-06-28 contains the same software versions as iPod Updater 2006-03-23.

Important: After downloading the iPod Updater software, connect your iPod to your computer and launch the iPod Updater application. If iPod Updater determines that your iPod needs to be updated, click the Update button to install the latest software on your iPod.

Features of iPod Software 1.2 for iPod nano:

  • Nike + iPod support

New iPod Software 1.1.1 for iPod
New iPod Software 1.1.1 for iPod nano
For all other iPod models, iPod Updater 2006-03-23 contains the same software versions as iPod Updater 2006-01-10.

Important: After downloading the iPod Updater software, connect your iPod to your computer and launch the iPod Updater application. If iPod Updater determines that your iPod needs to be updated, click the Update button to install the latest software on your iPod.
