Adam Knight has written a lengthy article about his life at AppleCare, a very good read.

Almost makes you feel bad for shouting at those on the other end of the phone.

Brian of FreeMacBlog.com has posted a very impressive collection of Apple boxes, consisting of over 100 Mac mini boxes.

He was offering a prize for the first to name every box in the picture, the prize has been nabbed already, shame that.

The Day the Whining Ends - May 20th 2006

MacBook Pro owners around the world are preparing to simultaneously call Apple support as a form of protest.

Scheduled for May 20th 2006, the protest calls for all MacBook Pro owners to call into Apple’s support centre and report their problems.

Personally I can’t see it working, as I have a few questions….

What time do I call the line, and for which country is this aimed at?

How is this going to help, the support lines for the UK are in India and I’m pretty sure that they are contracted out so have very little connection to Apple, apart from the pdf on the screen in front of them that’s telling them what to say to you in perfect English.

Single of the Week Turns 2

Apparently Apple likes releasing things this time of the year, we had iTMS turning three on Thursday, Tiger turning one and Single of the Week is turning 2.

Strangely enough Apple is only acknowledging the fact that Single of the Week is turning 2 and none of the other special occasions, not even its own Birthday.

Anyway a special section (US only) has been put up to celebrate the second birthday of Single of the Week.

The Countdown to World of Apple 2.0

Saturday 29th April, 2006 - 10:04 CET

Posted in: Blog, Site News

Written by: Alex Brooks

It begun with the new header and now with a new section, today World of Apple is happy to present a brand new section to the site, The Blog.

In light of recent issues with some posts made to the main site we thought that the idea of a separate section for the less important news, fun things and pretty much anything related to Apple that isn’t of great importance will go into the Blog section.

To define the new section even more, we’ve given The Blog its own sub-domain (http://blog.worldofapple.com), and it also has its own feeds:

We’re also thinking of a free-for-all Friday, where anybody can write a post to the Blog section, let us know.

As for World of Apple 2.0, its in slow and steady development, we hope it’ll absolutely blow your socks off, naturally we would like to hear your feedback on what rocks and what sucks, so let us know either in the comments here or via the Contact Us button.

Bloggers Edition - Video iPod Scratched

Friday 3rd February, 2006 - 20:35 CET

Posted in: Bloggers Edition

Written by: John Pernock

Today we start a new series on World of Apple. The Bloggers Edition will be a collection of posts over the next few months written in a blogging fashion with the aim of making an opinion rather than communicating news. With the addition of the Bloggers Edition Series we welcome a new writer John. Be nice now.

Can the new iPod video stand up to the durability of the earlier models? I take it on a head to head test with the older models.

Overall I have had at least one of every model iPod which I have to admit is a little stupid, but I have noticed something, going towards the more recent iPod releases. They scratch a lot easier than earlier models. Apple has been sued by many angry iPod nano owners which has been noted about because they are scratch prone and all apple did was include a flimsy cloth case, which can even scratch the iPod. They also did this with the new video iPod. I got my video iPod the week after it was released, of which I had to trade 4 iPods in to get it and I listened to it on the train ride back from the city, where the Apple reseller I got it from is located, and I noticed one thing, I had gotten off the train and got into my car when I noticed a scratch. I was infuriated because it was in the case the whole time and it was in my pocket with nothing else in it and I was babying it. Naturally when I got home I tried rubbing it out, using iPod scratch remover, which didn’t work. I eventually got over it and bought an agent eighteen case, which did the protecting job nicely, but then I noticed more scratches under the light. I read Apple’s forums up and down and I heard bad and good things about brasso. So I decided to try it because there was a can of it in the garage. I followed a step by step website I found on Google, which was for a nano but the video is basically the same outside makeup. The gentleman on the site said it took him somewhere around three hours, so I wasn’t discouraged and started. At first it looked like it was working. I worked for four hours on it then let it dry overnight before doing anything, and in the morning I woke up and it was SCRATCHED MORE! I couldn’t believe it! So now all I have to say to people who are trying to use brasso to wipe away scratches on their iPod are taking a risk, not a very good risk, because you can cause more harm to your iPod if you do not do it correctly.
