Apple Updates PowerMac G5 Firmware

This update is only for the 1.8 GHz, single-processor Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer and supports installation on Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later. Also improves the reliability of your Power Mac G5, especially after it has been inactive for two hours.

The update is just 900k.

Apple Unveils FrontRow 1.2.1

If you have a machine capable of running it then you’ll be receiving notification via Software Update that your FrontRow requires updating. Weighing in at just 5.5MB the update is said to improve compatibility with iTunes and iPhoto.

Security Update 2006-001

Apple has released a Security Update for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, the update which is labelled either PowerPC or Intel in the Software Update application is around 13.2MB in size (will vary) and includes a number of fixes.

Apple Updates iPhoto

Apple has released its second update in under 2 weeks to iPhoto, the update pushes iPhoto to version 6.0.2 and is 13.7MB in size.

Apple has given the update the following description;

iPhoto 6.0.2 resolves several minor issues with playing shared slideshows in Front Row.

Apple Releases iTunes 6.0.4

Apple describes the update which weighs in at 18.7MB as the following;

With iTunes 6, you can preview, buy, and download over 3,000 music videos and hit TV shows on the iTunes Music Store and sync your music and purchased videos with iPod to enjoy on the go. To watch purchased videos, you must have QuickTime 7.0.3 or later and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

iTunes 6.0.4 addresses stability and performance issues related to Front Row.

Note: After purchasing music from the iTunes Music Store with iTunes 6 or later, you will also need to upgrade your other computers that purchase music from the iTunes Music Store to the latest version of iTunes.

Apple Releases Software Update to iLife ‘06

Apple has today released an update to iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD, iWeb and iDVD.

iDVD 6.0.1 – 5.3MB

This update to iDVD 6 resolves issues with integration with the other iLife applications, importing of legacy projects and some theme related issues. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iPhoto 6.0.1 – 13.7MB

This update to iPhoto resolves issues with photocasting, viewing thumbnails in large libraries, and ordering cards, calendars and books. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iMovie HD 6.0.1 – 52.6MB

This update to iMovie HD 6 resolves issues with Ken Burns rendering performance, Scrubber Bar editing performance and theme image quality. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iWeb Update 1.0.1 – 19.1MB

This update to iWeb 1.0 addresses issues related to publishing and blogs. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iTunes 6.0.1 – 18.7MB

Backup 3.1 Available for Download

Apple has released Backup 3.1 through its Software Update utility. The update is described accordingly by Apple:

“Backup 3.1 delivers added support for some backup destinations and addresses file restoration and other issues. Backup 3.1 is recommended for all users of Backup 3.0. Significant areas addressed are: improved support for iDisk, local hard drives, and some network destinations (Mac OS X Tiger only); new iWeb QuickPick and updated iLife plan; and addresses issues with restoring files.”

Logic Pro 7.2 Available

Apple has today quietly released its first Universal Binary pro application.

Logic Pro 7.2 is native too Intel systems and can be purchased for $49 (£35) by owners of Logic Pro 7. Version 7.2 also packs some new features including, Apogee Ensemble, Digidesign Pro Tools HD 7 DAE support, Serato Pitch ‘n Time support, Garageband 3 compatibility.

The full version of Logic Pro 7.2 is available for $999 (£699)

DVD Studio Pro Update 4.0.3

Apple has posted an update to DVD Studio Pro updating it too version 4.0.3. The update is said to bring compliance for the 1.0 HD DVD Video standard for both Tiger and Panther users.

The update weighs in at 6.8MB available here.

Universal Aperture to Be Free of Charge

Apple has update their Aperture page to state that the Universal Crossgrade will be free of charge and be available before the end of March 2006.

Universal Aperture
