Largely accurate Engadget has at the last minute pinned Apple down to release a brand new multi-touch trackpad designed for use with desktops.
The trackpad which is believed to be dubbed “Magic Trackpad” has been revealed by Engadget in a brief set of photos with the look of the gadget being in like with Apple’s range of keyboards.

Few details beyond what the trackpad looks like have been revealed but with Apple including several multi-touch gestures on its notebook trackpads it seems like that this will just allow that behaviour on the desktop.
Rumour of a trackpad for desktops stretch back as far as 2008 with a trademark application appearing earlier this year.

That’s actually really believable. My iPad has started making me a bit frustrated with my iMac interface – I keep on doing gestures at the screen for the various things that gestures do better than mouse or keyboard. Could give desktop users the best of both worlds.
