All Things Digital is reporting that Apple will hold a media event on Wednesday, September 9th in San Francisco. As with past years it is likely that the event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

AllThingsD adds that the event will be used to showcase iPod and iTunes updates and will not see any mention of the heavily rumoured Apple touchscreen tablet.

Speculation is also building as to whether Steve Jobs will be hosting the event, AllThingsD was unable to verify either way.
