AppleInsider is reporting that the next major iMac update will see the introduction of two new “compelling” features. AppleInsider is cryptic in its reporting, stating that its sources failed to elaborate.
The first feature is speculated to be the inclusion of Blu-Ray drives, a feature which has been requested for many years from Audio/Video prosumers and that Steve Jobs described as a “bag of hurt” when referring to the licensing issues with the technology.
Secondly AppleInsider suggests that the iMac will follow the same direction as the MacBook Pro and see significant price cuts.
Finally AppleInsider notes that Apple could be looking to overhaul the design of the iMac which AppleInsider believes could arrive this year, sources suggest to the rumour site that the design could see a sleeker, slimmer iMac that resembles the 24-inch LED Cinema Displays emerge.

These new features of the iMac had better include matte, anti-glare screens. I hope Apple listens to the already hundreds of people who have made petitions at the petition site http://macmatte.wordpress.com – already close to 500 comments asking Apple to bring back matte.
