As with every year Apple has today begun the US based Back to School promotion. The promo offers rebates up to $229 for students on all iPods when purchased with a qualifying Mac.
Some caveats apply to the deal, the Mac mini is no an eligible Mac and the maximum rebate available is $229 which is just enough for an 8GB iPod touch but $20 short of the price of an iPod classic. For the 16GB, 32GB and iPod classic the difference will have to be made up.
The offer is open to students, staff members, and faculty at K-12 or higher education institutions, as well as parents of students.

Hmm… As the parent of a K12 student, I wish it was as generous a program as you list here. When I look at the Apple store site you link to, however, I see that the program is for college students and parents purchasing on their behalf, or teachers/staff members of K12 schools. K12 students themselves seem to be ineligible. Bummer!
