Thanks Jeff, The problem when you us “Spell check while you type is that if you are a poor speller or people where english is secound language or where someone may dyslectic. Is that it only reminds them of their handcap and takes away from the free flow typeing. Its much better to write what you want and then spell check.

Peter, try changing spelling check to “Spelling and Grammar > Check Spelling > While Typing”.

Mail as a email application lacks, does not have a decent spell check. For example Thunderbird lets you edit and spell check the email without the need of sending the same. Mail or at least the last time I used mail did not let you spell check and then write some more or change things. IT JUST SENDS OF THE EMAIL immidatley after the spell check. Given that apple aims at the school market and that lots of people may only just be learn english or any other language for that matter. The spell check on mail is no where or any where as good at Thunderbird. I stop using mail 12 mounths ago for this reason. Regards Peter.
