A source has disclosed to World of Apple that Apple is planning to hold an event on March 24 to unveil new desktop hardware. The source which has been confirmed to be in reach of such information stated that the event would be similar to the notebook event held by Apple last October.
World of Apple’s source was unable to offer any details on hardware specifics but did speculate that the Mac mini, iMac and Mac Pro would all be refreshed.
[Update] My Apple Guide who has historically had a rough track record has reportedly had multiple anonymous sources suggest the same date for an Apple event.

@ James I hope to that the new LED Cinema displays for desktops will be released on the 24th, i’ve been waiting for a year for it and I love the new design to, So if there refreshing the Mac Pro then we might see new displays also but I hope Apple will include adapters for the LED Cinema so that us that has older Mac’s can use them also or we might have purchase a new video card that support Display-Port and i’m willing to get upgrade to a display-port if I have to but i’m sure they will be adapters, I guess we will see what happens this month.

@Darrell Jackson:
I certainly understand what you’re saying about the adapter thing, but the problem is that it is not simply a pass-through connection that must be made. The difference in the technology would require a convertor similar to the ADC to DVI days. There signal must be converted in some way. So even if we do see a convertor it will probably be the same price as the ADC to DVI convertor (around $100) or more.

I certainly hope it will be the announcement of new iMac’s. I have been holding off buying one because of the rumours about a new model, but I am losing my patience!

My hope is that they come out with a ultra thin iMac that has a base 2.5 gig procesor. Also mac mini with an hdmi port to hook up to your tv.

Snow Leopard anyone?
Brett 4th March 2009, 19.44 pm
That’s what I’m thinking. Snow Leopard – March 24
AllenC 9th March 2009, 04.47 am
Snow Leopard? Not likely! They have only just released the 4th or 5th developer build. So it’s still some months off. BUT, with new Macs now released, how about a new AppleTV event? The Apple TV is now the oldest Mac OS device in the Apple Store. What do you think?
Preston 12th March 2009, 01.10 am
I’m thinkin new displays in the fashion of the 24 incher now with mini display port to match the new desktops and possibly some updated pro apps
