Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi released a note to clients earlier this week describing a discussion he had with Apple COO and temporary CEO Tim Cook, CFO Peter Oppenheimer and VP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller. In the note Sacconaghi wrote that Cook and Schiller described a “very exciting” 2009 for the iPhone.
The three execs not only pointed to an inevitable upgrade to the iPhone but also the possibility of “different pricing/price points”.
Sacconaghi also adds that Apple is not currently interested in any kind of iPhone nano but did not disclose his source of this information.
Moving on Sacconaghi writes about his concerns about the Apple TV after speaking to the three executives, Cook, Oppenheimer and Schiller reportedly foresee “lots of barriers” and the company doesn’t currently treat the device like it does the iPod, iPhone or Mac.
Finally Sacconaghi wrote in his report that Apple’s Tim Cook hinted at “ideas” for a netbook but failed to expand on that point.
“Tim Cook stated that since Steve Jobs announced his leave of absence, he was spending more time on new products, how Apple could take the iPhone into new markets and examining iPhone’s business model,”
