After much commotion Macworld reports that Apple has removed the support technote which recommended Mac users install a third-party anti-virus solution.
“We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate,” Apple spokesman Bill Evans, told Macworld. “The Mac is designed with built-in technologies that provide protection against malicious software and security threats right out of the box.”
The support page was criticised by many as it went against Apple’s latest “Get a Mac” adverts which ridiculed Windows users for having to invest in anti-virus solutions to protect their computers.
