Now, I know we’re supposed to be all enamored with the Get A Mac ads, but I think credit should be given where credit is due. Microsoft’s new ad doesn’t even really have anything to do with computers. The only computer related bit in the whole ad is revolved around Bill Gates “adjusting” his underwear.
If you can sell software with an old man wiggling his hips while holding discount shoes and a churro, you deserve a pat on the back no matter who you are.

Dean, you know I am a diehard Applefangirl, but I do give credit where it is do (i.e. the cleverness of Psystar’s response) but that ad SUCKED. Here are the reasons why:
1. Jerry wasn’t funny
2. Bill wasn’t funny
3. The acting sucked, even Jerry’s
4. It had absolutely nothing to do with computer
5. The last bit had no real tie in at all
Now, being up on what they are trying to get into people’s mind, I understand the tie-in but that is only with extensive back-end information. Now perhaps Microsoft is trying to do like a serialized commercial will they will eventually get to the point, but I think that will fail for these reasons:
1. Since this commercial sucked so badly it doesn’t leave people wanting more
2. People don’t have great memories for stories told in commercials unless each of them are really great
Now I can add to my first list. Microsoft’s whole point for the campaign as I understand it, is two-fold.
1. Stick with Windows, you know it, your work uses it, there is no good reason to switch and it is much more flexible in its choices
2. It is too hard to switch
Now this commercial seems designed to address part one. But it failed miserably because Apple’s alleged weak spot is that they not only allegedly inflexible but also allegedly too expensive. Thus, shooting the first “inflexible” “make fit” scene in a discount shoe outlet is stupid.
It sucked. Seriously. And once again to prove that I will totally give props where it is do. THIS is great anti-apple advertising:

Check out my post. There is nothing to get - that is why you aren’t getting it. It sucked on all possible points.

Let me see… a new ad about a future product that is going to be better than the what is selling now. Novel.

Hahaha. Well, I loved it. If nothing else, you’ve got Bill Gates shaking his butt at the zillions of Windows users who can’t escape as if to say “nyah nyah”.
I know it didn’t have anything to do with any of their products, that’s the whole point. I’m actually somewhat surprised to hear you didn’t like it, most of the people I sent it to before posting thought it was great.

I need a lobotomy to rid that picture of Bill wagging his bootie.
The pretty much universal twitter verdict is pure suckage.
