I don't have the exact statement to hand but the impression I got was that Apple expected a shortage but this was due to unexpected demand, not due to them reducing stock to make way for a new model.

Obviously we all have a good idea that Apple is reducing stock on purpose but maybe there is increased demand which is adding to the situation.</description>

This sir is a very obtuse statement. How can you have a shortage while simultaneously having plenty of stock? If they never ran out of stock, then why would they have shortages?</description>
