Following a report from a Gartner analyst last week the market research firm has now backtracked on the statement.
The analyst Ken Dulaney claimed that Apple had placed an order for 10 million 3G iPhones, but now admits that the claim could be inaccurate.
The firm has admitted that it has no solid information to back the claim or to suggest that any contracts have been signed.
“If Apple was to place an order, than 10 million would be a reasonable number,” analyst Bob Hafner explained. “And we absolutely believe that in the next-generation iPhone 3G will be there.”
