Ars Technica reports that a “TV industry source” has told the technology site that Apple and BBC Worldwide have struck a deal for iTunes Store distribution of BBC content.

The deal is reportedly going to be publicly announced on Tuesday. The agreement is an attempt for BBC Worldwide to make some extra money off of BBC content.

The article points out that at the moment specifics are not known, suggesting that content may only be available to UK customers.

This seems unlikely as BBC Worldwide is a subsidiary of the BBC solely for distribution outside of the UK; UK residents currently pay a license fee to view BBC content so any iTunes deal would mean it would be free for the UK.
