AppleInsider reports that Apple is expected to drop support for Macs running under 800MHz as well as G3 processors.
The rumour site notes that Apple is yet to release the official specifications for the future Operating System but mentions that it has long been written in developer documentation that Leopard would require “an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (800MHz or faster) or G5 processor.”
Leopard will require Macs with “an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor.” Other system requirements include a DVD drive, built-in FireWire, at least 512MB of RAM (additional recommended), and at least 9GB of hard disk space.
The article also writes that people familiar with plans for Mac OS X 10.6 speculate that Apple will exclude PPC processors entirely.
Finally AppleInsider believes that the recently released seed of Leopard, could be one of the first builds to be a release candidate.
