Just a few days ago Apple released a Software Update to Leopard build 9A499. Back when 9A499 was released we published an extensive gallery of screenshots, Apple took a dislike and pulled it down.
But due to popular request we’re going to answer just a few of the queries in the original post as well as post some screenshots from the newest build.
Build 9A500n of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is significantly more stable than its predecessor and is somewhat nippy. But inconstancies in GUI and bugs remain quite prevalent.
Lets take a look.
Stacks still have menu dialogs
One of the biggest GUI changes in 9A500n is the Time Machine preference. The buttons are no longer aqua lozenges and the on/off switch replicates that of an iPhone GUI item
Software Update now downloads important updates in the background by default and prompts you to install them
VoiceOver Utility has recieved a lot of work
Universal Access is now accessible via the Menu bar

If I’m not mistaken, the print dialog box within apps, such as Safari, has also been given a face lift. I’m not 100% sure, as “print” would cause my apps to hang in 9a466.

What happens if you try to align the dock in “end” position (e.g. with TinkerTool)?
Is the Trash right in the Corner or the end of the stylized tray?
I’m using this now to honor Fitt’s law for dragging files to the trash. It would be disappointing if it is gone.

MacInn,
As you can see from the screenshot above, Time Machine is quite configurable in how it works.
When you start up OS X Time Machine begins a backup in the background, it takes a complete backup of your hard drive. But things can be removed from the backup using a tick box in the Get Info dialog.
No idea if Backup 3 works or not, but Apple is rumoured to be working on a new version.

Could you please see if the firewall now blocks any outbound connection as well? Thank you.

Have you found any hint for other supported languages in VoiceOver than English? In Tiger VoiceOver even pronounces French, German, Spanish etc. like English - so it could not be used as noone understands it.
So up to now there’s no support for other languages. Any hint for an improvement in Leopard?

Do you know if Leopard will now support writing UDF format for DVD-RAM?

Has anyone else experienced the “open” dialog box causing apps to hang when Spaces is enabled? It was happening to me, so I decided to do a format/reinstall. The second I enabled spaces again, it began again.

God, I hope you can still put the dock on the right side… Like I’ve have mine for years! I’m right handed and do very little mousing on the left of my screen….
