LED Shortages Killing MacBook Pro Supplies?
AppleInsider posts that a supply shortage of LED-backlit displays are causing shipping delays for the new MacBook Pro models that employ the displays.
According to the reported most third-party retailers have seen no stock in the units and the online Apple Store is showing 7-10 days shipping estimates.
At this time it is unknown whether the shortage is problems with LED-backlit display yield rates or that quality-assurance issues are at fault.
iPhone and iPod Consume 25% of NAND Flash
i4u.com who cites the DRAMeXchange as a source states that Apple’s iPhone and iPod will take up around 25% of the worlds NAND flash production.
The site explains that since 2Q07 NAND flash producers have begun producing new chips based on thinner circuitry, however the change has had a massive effect of the yield rates of NAND flash.
The site states that NAND chips will go up in price.
