Apple is reportedly preparing to release a next-generation video iPod in August, featuring a multi-touch display.
The report comes from DigiTimes stating that “sources at upstream suppliers” have pointed towards Wintek as the supplier of the touch panels.
“The Taiwan-based panel maker will begin shipping capacitive touch screen panels in the second half of 2007,” reports DigiTimes.
The report comes just days after Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster reported to clients that he believes that Apple will release an iPod running OS X by Macworld 2008.
Some rumour sites are pointing towards a comment made by Steve Jobs at a speech he made to Apple employees last month. The company CEO hinted that future versions of the iPod would run versions of OS X.
