Yesterday it was reported that Steve Jobs would make a rare speech to Apple at Town Hall.

Think Secret has notes on the speech, Steve Jobs announced that every Apple employee will receive a free 8GB iPhone by the end of July. This applies to full-time staff and part-time staffers who have been with the company more than a year. The number of full-time employees currently stands at just under 18,000.

Arstechnica also offers some details on the speech.

When speaking about Macs:

The first leg is the Mac business, which Steve addressed by saying that they have the “best Macs” in the new product pipeline ever right now, and that the stuff coming out in the next year is “off the charts.”

Then Steve spoke about Mac OS X:

There is one OS group that does Mac OS X for the Mac and the iPhone, as well as “some iPods we’re working on.”
