Ecamm’s developer blog, Mac Daddy World has found an interesting discovery on the new Santa Rosa based MacBook Pros.
It appears that the latest MacBook Pro models feature a significantly upgraded iSight camera. The original cameras used in the MacBook Pros were capable of VGA resolution (640 x 480), now it seems the upgraded iSights are capable of a massive 1600 x 1200, equivalent to a 1.3 megapixel camera.
The article explains that the recently released Mac OS X 10.4.10 comes with a new UVC driver, which drives the camera.
It appears that 10.4.10 is required to make use of the new camera but applications such as iChat and Photobooth don’t take advantage of the new camera and still force the resolution to VGA (640 x 480).
