AppleInsider contradicts with Think Secret’s report that MacBook updates will recieve an update to the Santa Rosa platform.
AppleInsider believes that the 13-inch MacBook will not be updated until later in the year, right now only the MacBook Pro will receive an update to Santa Rosa.
The new MacBook Pro’s will feature bus speeds of 800MHz, and Core 2 Duo processors up to speeds of 2.4GHz.
The site also believes that the MacBook Pro will drop the current cathode fluorescent-backlit and be replaced with LED backlit displays.
MacBook Ultra-Portable
It appears that a recent purchase of 13.3-inch LED displays by Apple are destined for an ultra-portable and not the MacBook.
AppleInsider offers a complete list of what ‘they know’ and what ‘they don’t know’;
What AppleInsider knows:
- 13-inch ultra-thin, LED-back lit display
- No optical disc drive
- On-board NAND flash for faster application launching and boot times
- Built-in iSight webcam
- Thinner and lighter than existing MacBook offerings
- AirPort Extreme 802.11n enabled
- MagSafe power adapter
- Target launch late ‘07, early ‘08
What AppleInsider doesn’t know:
- Precise Intel architecture (but appears to be Santa Rosa-based)
- Target price point
- RAM and HDD storage capacity and expandability
- I/O port breakdown
- Operating system software (appears to be Leopard)
- Expected battery life
- Enclosure makeup
