Think Secret has written a report which has been published on PCMag.com. The reports gives further details to the rumours started by Think Secret referring to Final Cut Pro 6 and Final Cut Extreme. The article also mentions the long rumoured updated Displays. The site reiterates that these items will be announced at NAB 2007.

The article offers further details on Final Cut Extreme saying that the software and hardware combination will allows users to cope with uncompressed 4K and 2540p. With camera compatibility covering the Red Digital Cinema’s Red, Panavision Genesis, Dalsa Origin, Thompson Viper, Sony Cinealta, Phantom HD, and Arri D20 cameras. Extreme is said to be shipping later this year with a price range of $10,000 to $30,000.

Adding to Think Secrets report MacRumors states that it has received an “unconfirmed report” relating to the hardware in the Final Cut Extreme system. The Core card is said to make use of 4 cell BE chips, similar to those used in the Playstation 3, with two extra “accelerator” cards available, each containing 6 cell chips. Each card is said to feature 4 HD-SDI inputs as well as a connector for a breakout box, as only two cards will be able to fit in the Mac Pro at a time.

The article goes on to read that a new version of Motion and Shake are on track for a 2008 delivery.

Final Cut Pro 6 is said to require a 64-bit processor (G5, Core 2 Duo, Xeon) and also require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard as it will make use of Leopards Core Animation technology as well as Resolution Independence.

The site mentions that new displays are on track for a NAB 2007 announcement with one display said to exceed the specification of the current 30-inch display allowing support for 4K+ resolutions. It is also said that Apple is considering increasing the resolution of the 17-inch MacBook Pro to allow for native HD editing.
