Apple has posted a job description seeking a “Manager of Mobile Mac Architecture”.
The description is as follows:
Manager of Mobile Mac Architecture is responsible
for guaranteeing the engineering feasibility of the future
Mobile Macintosh product line. This manager will
work in tandem with Mobile Mac’s Chief Technologist
to understand market direction for mobile computers and
apply that to the unique engineering and feature requirements
of Apple’s mobile computers.
The job description shows nothing new and could be related to the current line of MacBook and MacBook Pro computers.
Think Secret on the other hand believes that the position is with a team working on a new line of Macs.

See, as a former Apple employee, this is really puzzling to me, because when I was there (up until right before the Intel launch) Apple always made such a big deal to employees that the iBook/PowerBook are PORTABLE, not laptops or whatever. To my knowledge that nomenclature hasn’t changed with the new Intel line–if it hasn’t, then this would seem to point to a new line of…something!
