Apple Director of QuickTime Product Marketing, Frank Casanova has told the press that internet bandwidth limits is “one of the reasons why there’s no activity taking place in movie downloads”.

With a sizeable movie file “you could request a movie from Netflix before this download gets to you,” he explains.

Casanova goes on to explain how TV shows and movie trailers are different only weighing in around 100MB in size, where as a movie could be in excess of 1.5GB even with Apple’s H.264 encoding technology.

It should be noted that Apple does sell one full length movie, High School Musical has been available from iTunes for a few months, Casanova mentioned that the movie has been “selling well.”
