After much speculation and rumour Apple has finally released the Dual Core PowerMac G5 and as anticipated they have also released a Dual Dual Core machine, known as the Quad G5.

The G5 line up is now as follows;

  • Single Dual Core G5 2.0GHz $1999
  • Single Dual Core G5 2.3GHz $2499
  • Dual Dual Core G5 2.5GHz $3299

    The PowerMac Quad G5 gives 4 effective processing units will be available in November and has the following spec;

  • PCI Express
  • up to 16GB of DDR2 SDRAM
  • Two Gigabit ethernet ports
  • Mighty Mouse as standard
  • GeForce 6600 either 128MB or 256MB

    Rumour is that the new Quad G5 could power up to 8 screens!
