In February Apple Computer filed a Patent described as an “electronic device holder” and “apparatus that can secure an electronic device and be inserted into a conventional cup holder”. The cup holder, for example, in an automobile [car]”
This Patent is very similar in description to a product made by Belkin, the Tunedock docks an iPod and employs adapting sleeves that fit into certain situations, such as a cup holder.
The Patent filing continuously implies that the dock design could be adapted to hold not just an iPod but could dock other devices. “The Electronic device being held can be a variety of devices that include a digital music player.”
