History

World of Apple started life at the beginning of 2005, the main intention of the site was to be a blog to air opinions, for three quarters of a year the site resided on free webspace and was moved between several providers as it began to grow. The site was nothing more than a personal blog until August of 2005.

It wasn’t until September 2005 that the domain www.worldofapple.com was registered and a webhost was selected, from that day World of Apple has made leaps and bounds into the ether that is the Mac news web.

In late December of the same year World of Apple, exclusively broke a story concerning a potential upgrade to .Mac accounts, the story received immense attention, particularly as it was just weeks before MacWorld. This was followed by World of Apple’s extensive coverage of Macworld 2006, of which it’s Live Keynote Coverage was viewed by over 60,000 individual visitors.

2007 was World of Apple’s most successful year, receiving over 1 million unique visitors throughout the year, towards the end of 2007 the RSS feed began nearing 10,000 daily subscribers but didn’t break the barrier until early 2008. As with the previous years Worlds of Apple had exemplary coverage of all Apple events with just over 100,000 unique visitors viewing our coverage of the Macworld 2007 keynote. During the same Macworld we published over 500 photos from the expo.

Later in 2007 World of Apple published exclusive images of Mac OS X Leopard multiple times before its official retail release. The images caused tension between World of Apple and Apple Legal who eventually issued a cease and desist.

During September of 2007 World of Apple moved onto Media Temple servers and have happily resided on a robust setup ever since.

In early 2008 World of Apple took on three additional members of staff, who all kindly volunteer their time. Taken on primarily as third-party reviewers they are all settling in and finding there own particular niches in which they are interested in expanding.

Over time World of Apple has consistently covered important Apple events first hand and prides itself in quick and accurate news coverage.
